ARCH1101: Introduction

A Creative Work

Above is a panel from my year 12 major work Grit. I created a solid sculptural form with balsa to contrast the tranparent sketches of the climber. As light interacts with the sculpture, shadows form to overpower the climber. The dynamic flow of the figure expemplifies the process of overcoming obstacles through grit.

A Great Piece of Architecture

The design of the UTS library is carefully thought out to create the optimal study space though the manipulaiton of natural lighting. Facing north, windows span all three floors to ensure maximum sunlight throughout the day. Adjustable white panels on the exteior shade the space from direct sunlight, minimising glare which is ideal for a study space.

Something Beautiful

I photographed this waratah flower blooming in the Blue Mountains during spring. It had grown in the middle of the walking trail and forced two paths around it. Despite its fragile nature the same flower was there on multiple visits. Then a month later the entire area was 🔥torched🔥.
